NTU = not too ugly?

well, if the title rings a bell than u're right.

i think approx 3 weeks ago, there was an article by The Newpaper regarding a recent poll on "universities with good looking people"
and not surprisingly, SMU came up tops.
and unfortunately, i was the one being interviewed. haha.

anyway,
here's my take on it!

i think the reasons why SMU came up tops is basically because of its location.
because of the fact that we located smack in the middle of town, there's is definitely the tendency for us to want to dress up, especially if its fridays.. we'll just head down to town after our classes!
haha.
and also because of that, i feel that we are the university that is often in the public eye.
i mean compared to NUS and NTU which are located in rural areas of singapore, we are the school that gets the most attention.
in addition, we're a relatively young school with an 'excellent' marketing campaign to position SMU as a school that's different, hip and THE school to be in.
but i think the campaign worked too well.. hahah (if u know what i mean)

besides that,
SMU has modules that require us to dress up and not forgetting the countless number of presentations too!
also, we often have business seminars in which companies come and give talks, this require to be in biz attires as well.

but anyway...
looks can only but bring you that far.
of coz its important based on the first impressions but after that, it doesnt take u further if there's no substance.
i think being presentable is damn important,
ppl form an impression of you in the first few secs!

back to the article, i dont think NTU has really ugly ppl la.
i mean look at the 3 chosen ones, the photos don't really do them justice but Lloyd's the overall winner of 校花校草 last year and peggy was from newpaper new face, she too was the winner of 校花校草!
and of coz we also have our dearest kong!
hot stuff NTU stuff has ok.
haha.
and SMU and NUS..
everywhere has hot ppl, its just who gets to see em!
